A special
note to classmates
Our classmate and friend Kristie (Miller) McClellan
was recently diagnosed with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis, a disease
that is turning her lungs into scar tissue.
This disease is an unexplained hardening of the air sacs in the
lungs. This prevents the lungs from getting oxygen into the blood
stream and eventually makes breathing impossible. 200,000 Americans
have the disease; 40,000 die each year - the same number as breast
cancer. Two-thirds die within 5 years of their initial diagnosis.
The cause is unknown.
Kristie and her husband Jerry are trying to educate the public and
start a support group for those affected by Idiopathic Pulmonary
Fibrosis (IPF). If you would like to contribute to this cause you
can contact Kristie at 360-966-3655 or Jerry at jerry@hardwaresales.net.
You may also wish to drop Kristie a card at: 5036 Wahl Road, Bellingham,
WA 98226.
A feature length article on Kristie and IPF was in the Bellingham
Herald on October 8, 2006.
